Kappabashi market… land of kitchenware and plastic food models.  Seriously, this place is a fascinating, especially if you love cooking or want to start a restaurant.  The market place is pretty much a street full of shops with practically every kitchenware you can think of.  Prices range from the expensive high end stuff to the less expensive but still good quality stuff.

One thing that Kappabashi is known for is the sale of the plastic food models.  You know what I’m talking about right?  They’re usually the food displays you find on the outside of many Japanese restaurants.  Yea, they’re not real food….but they look pretty real though right?  These fantastical looking fake food are actually made by craftsmens and according to this one show we watched on tv, it looks like they do quite a bit of it by hand too.  It’s pretty amazing.  As fun as they look, these things are not cheap.  Anyway, here are some pictures of fake food from our excursion with Ben last Friday.

If I had the money and I was really bored, I’d totally turn my room into a mini fake fish market just for fun.

What would be sad is if you blow all your money on fake food, then later starve to death in your own apartment.

But it does stay fresh forever! I guess that’s a plus!
