Lately, I’ve been working on getting back into my own photography now that E is more independent. Of course, I can’t seem to get back into photographing like I use to. Maybe it’s just from the lack of practice or because I can’t seem to focus on taking pictures of anything else other than E these days.
Anyway, I found a blog carnival that sounds interesting so I decided to join in on this weeks challenge. It’s hosted over at I Should Be Folding Laundry and the theme this week is “Faces”, something I have plenty of (all of E of course.)

And a B&W one just because I haven’t done one in a while.

My child is beautiful, isn’t she?
1 more month and she’ll be one! I can’t believe it’s going by so fast!
Go check out other people’s photos or put up your own link over at Beth’s blog.

The Tokyo Mother’s Group had a special photo session day today for families who wanted to have their portraits taken professionally. It’s a nice deal because we didn’t have to pay the sitting fee and we had about 20 minutes for photos. Afterwards, in about a week or so, we can go online and check out the photos and if we see any we want, we can pay for them to be printed. As for the quality of the photos…well, I’d have to see the final product before I can judge how professional it looks.
Overall the shoot went ok. All three of us weren’t the best subjects during our session. Ellie wouldn’t smile for the camera and would keep looking at the lights. The flash also startled her everytime. Strangely enough, she started smiling when the camera wasn’t on her but that’s just how she is…..camera shy.
Jason kept blinking in all the photos with him in it. It was like our wedding photos at the studio all over again. Even the photographer pointed out that Jason blinked in practically all the photos. Her favorite ones were the ones where he was looking at Ellie and not at the camera since you can’t tell if his eyes were open or closed.
As for me, well I was “glistening” a lot since the studio was really warm and my body seems to have trouble staying cool in warm rooms. On top of that, Ellie is like a portable heater and when I hold her close, my body temperature goes up a degree or two….so yes, I was very shiny with sweat.
So yes, the three of us with our camera shyness, blinky eyes and glistening-ness probably made the photographers job pretty difficult. Oh well, maybe it’s a sign we’re not meant for studio pictures.
We’ll see in a week how the photos came out. Hopefully, we get at least one good photo.
Man, I should take my own photos…
