“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

Busily “cooking” and preparing for a tea party at a jidokan (indoor public playspace).

Last weekend, we were invited to a birthday party of one of the kids who was in E’s birth group. We met the parents at a birth and labor class when we were in our 30-something weeks of pregnancy. We’ve kept in touch all these years and have watched our kids become big kids together.

Unfortunately, we live fairly far apart from each other so our kids only meet up once or twice a year. Even though we don’t get together often, when we do get together, the girls play really well with each other as if they’ve seen each other every day. It’s really great.

To make it more interesting, both S’s mom and I were pregnant with our second child at the same time. Neither of us planned it and we both didn’t even find out until we were well into our second trimester. She had a boy though while I had another girl.

Oh, and we’re both Jen! How funny is that?

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015.”

This was from the picnic last Thursday.

We’re on the last few days before the elementary entrance ceremony and there’s still so much preparation left to do! It’s amazing how time really flies by when the kids are young and keeping you busy all the time.

We had a friend from the US visiting Tokyo for work so we met up with him and another friend last weekend for lunch and dinner and to hangout.

The kids got free balloons from a new shop that opened up and was entertained by them while we waited to be seated at the Eggs ‘n Things in Odaiba.

This one is from when we were in Hong Kong. The night we arrived, my grandmother was so happy to see us and have us stay over that the minute we entered her home, she fed my kids Oreos and milk.

All this at 10:30 at night.

The kids were thrilled and tried to eat as many as they could while I was getting settled in at her apartment. I finally had to cut them off at 7 Oreos. Still, they were so happy to eat that much sugar this late at night.

Imitation at its finest. E was posing with a peace sign and K was trying to copy her except she hasn’t figured out how to hold up just 2 fingers yet. :)

I’m just catching up on this since we’ve been busy and traveling so much. Always better late than never, right?

They were best friends when we first got on the crowded bus. They even held hands and giggled together over silly things. Minutes after this was taken, there was scream, yelling, and crying over who gets to hold which one of mommy’s hand.

It was a very long bus ride after that.

We were in Kyoto this weekend with Jason’s parents, who are visiting us in Japan this week. The trip was a rough one since K’s terrible two’s reared its ugly head everywhere we went. I’ve wanted to go on a family trip for so long but after this past weekend, I’m glad we don’t go out often.
