Battle of the beef sandwiches

Published by Jen under food, marriage, parenthood, random

We try to get Arby’s at least once every time we come home. We don’t have anything like it in Japan and so we miss the taste of it. Every time we come home and get Arby’s, the same thing happen….Jason goes and talks smack about my beef ‘n cheddar.

RoastBeef

Jason’s a roast beef man. He likes his sesame bun and the fact that there are no cheese sauce or Arby’s sauce added to his sandwich. He does not add ANY sauce to his sandwich…NONE!  How that man can choke down such a dry sandwich is beyond me.  (maybe that’s where E gets her madness from…)

BeefNCheddar

I, on the other hand, love the chedder sauce that comes with beef ‘n cheddars. It’s much tastier with all the extra sauce and cheese oozing from the sandwich. I don’t like the original roast beef sandwich because it’s so dry and hard to choke down without the sauce already in it.

Anyway, we pretty much always banter back and forth about which one is better and this time, we have a third person to help us choose a side…E.

Since she began solids, we’ve been feeding her all sorts of stuff within bounds of reasons. So it’s quite normal that we’re feeding her bits of Arby’s.

Jason gave her bits of roast beef and bun from his sandwich and I gave her some of my beef ‘n chedder. Then to settle our debate, we both put pieces of our sandwich in front of E and whichever sandwhich she chose was the “better” one.

I was pretty confident I would win since she likes cheese and because she pretty much always chooses me.

I was wrong.

My child looked like she was going to come towards me but at the last minute she changed her mind and went towards the roast beef.

Talk about betrayal!

I still think that she chose Jason because he had his sandwich closer to her face than me.

I demand a retest!

Sidetracked

Published by Jen under Updates, random

I’ve been sidetracked a tad lately. I joined swap-bots.com and have been busy playing with it lately. The idea is that you make something and then you send them to random people and get things from other random people in return. Pretty fun idea if you ask me.

Anyway, I was playing around with Google’s suggestion thingy. I’ve read about how you can type in “[your name] needs” and you’ll get a list of suggestions. I tried that with my name but I didn’t get anything other than “to” and “a” so I just clicked “to” just to see what I get.

This is my result:

In case it’s too small to read, here is the first link zoomed in:

Isn’t that funny?  Talk about a coincidence!

My gundam is bigger than yours….sort of…

Published by Jen under Japan, random

J, E and I went out to Odaiba yesterday to check out the 1:1 scale gundam that has been the talk of the town here. We were expecting to see a humongous gundam from far away but what we got was much smaller than we had hoped. It’s not tiny per se but still…we had higher hopes.

Actually, come to think of it, it’s probably at the correct size as the one portrayed in the gundam series. I mean, it’s suppose to be big enough to destroy things but yet small enough for a normal human being to climb into it and pilot it.

Anyway, here are some pictures taken with my sucky point and shoot camera…

J said that the gundam looks like it’s just passing by behind us when this photo was taken.

And just in case the pictures aren’t enough, I even recorded a video…

Mulan ftw!!

Published by Jen under parenthood, random

We went to Akiba yesterday for some dinner and to also pick up something from Yodobashi. As we were standing on the street waiting to cross the intersection, we were looking at some games on sale in the front of some store. Jason’s jokingly pointed out the Disney Princess DS game and said that he knows I want to get that. I told him not to joke around because he knows that one day Ellie is going to want to buy that and we’ll see who’s laughing then.

Then our conversation took a strange turn. We both agreed that we would both cry if she wanted to play that game and that it would be a different story if it was the Disney Princess Fighting Game.

We started talking about what that game would be like and who would own all the other princesses. We both agree that Mulan would probably own them all since, hey, she fought in a freakin war and saved China. I also thought that Pocahontas would make a great competitor.

Of course we both had a discussion about who is actually considered a “princess” since neither Mulan or Pocahontas are “princesses.” We decided that they are eligible if they play a significant role in their respective movies.

We also agreed that Snow White would get owned since she doesn’t do much and she was also the one who ate the apple despite warnings from the dwarves about trusting strangers.

Then we went on to talk about the special attacks each princess would have….though details of that part are quite unclear since we both had different ideas on what those were.

Yea, it would be quite interesting if there was ever a Disney Princess fighting game. It will never happen since that’s not the type of stuff Disney is into but man, it would be fun if they really did make it.

Xanga or wordpress?

Published by Jen under Updates, blogs, random, xanga

Trying to decide if I should move my blog from xanga to wordpress. It’s hard since I’ve been with Xanga for 6 years now and it’s a relatively easy to use blogging platform.

On the other hand, I have my own hosted site with wordpress that’s just sitting there waiting for me to update. It was originally meant to be a hamster blog but given how little time I have these days, I’m thinking of combining the two.

Hmm, xanga or wordpress…

For now I’ll just use posterous to post to both sites until I make up my mind.
