Here and Back Again

Family, Life, Updates

Funny how I posted back in March but then everything went silent again.

Yea, I do that a lot these days.

To be honest, I was ready to toss in the towel with the blog. Social media is so popular and easy to use these days that I find myself posting a lot on Facebook and on Instagram. In fact, I have three instagram accounts. THREE!! I can barely keep up with those so it’s no surprise I can keep up with everything.

However, last night Jason was looking through the blog to show E some pictures from when she was younger. He ended up going through a lot of the old posts and mentioned to me how he misses reading my blog. So I thought about it and decided that maybe I should start writing again.

Time is always an issue with me since I’m always doing something and don’t have the time to edit photos and write coherent blog posts. At the same time, I think the blog has changed a lot over time. It was much simpler back then when I just wrote for us and didn’t try to get all creative and artsy with my photos. Over time I think I tried to do too much and it just burned me out.

So maybe I should just go back to the basics and just tell the story of our lives in Tokyo. There’s always something going on in our lives that’s worth recording so it’s not quite time to give up on the blog yet.

If anything else, I want to do this for Jason and for the kids. They enjoy reading the blog (well, maybe not K since she can’t read yet).

So let’s give this a go once more!

Where did the time go?

So…I’m back! Again!

It’s been 3 months since I last posted and to be honest, I’m still not sure what I want to do with this space. I don’t want to leave it yet since I’ve spent so many years here and it just feels sad to leave it all behind.

In fact, I’m not sure why I suddenly felt the need to post today. I guess a large part of it is because E finished up 1st grade yesterday. It’s always bittersweet for me since I like watching her grow up and learn how to be more independent but at the same time, it’s a bit sad to see that yet another year has slipped by and she is getting older and becoming more independent.

K is also growing up quickly. She is talking a lot more than she was at the beginning of the year. Pretty soon we will be enrolling her into preschool and once that happens, time is going to slip by even faster.

I don’t know why but it feels like school ages our kids so much faster than when they were in daycare or with us everyday.

In the past 3 months, I’ve taken up running again and am on a journey to building a stronger endurance and stamina for running so that I can run Tokyo Marathon in 2018. It seems so far away and impossible for me to do but I’m working on it slowly and steady.

So much is changing in our lives but at the same time, many things are still the same. I guess we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks.

Farewell, 2015!

Updates

I know I’m practically not blogging anymore these days. A part of me wants to just close the blog and call it an end of an era but a part of me doesn’t want to do that either since it’s been a big part of my life in the past. I don’t know what I want to do yet but I will think about it and decide next year.

This year has been a busy year but it was a good one. Lots of ups and downs but it was a good year overall.

I wish everyone a happy 2016!

Greetings! (A long overdue post)

Updates

Wow! Has it really been 5 months since I last blogged? I took a much longer hiatus than I had planned and hopefully I’ll be back blogging again.

Honestly, a part of me wants to give up the blog. Social media has become such a big part of my life these days that I share a lot on my personal Facebook page or on my 3 Instagram accounts (yes, I have 3!)

I seem to do better doing short bursts of sharing than actually sitting down and writing a post these days.

But a part of me can’t let go of my blog. I’ve been blogging for so long and to have to stop permanently seems like an end to another chapter in my life. I’m not quite ready to let go yet. Several of the bloggers I’ve been following for a long time have announced that they are stopping and it makes me sad to see them go but at the same time, I can understand the feeling.

But I’m hoping to stick around a little longer. For now, I’ll see what happens. I want to blog but at the same time I don’t. Let’s just see what happens…

It’s been a while but here’s a picture of me, E and K in our Halloween costumes.

May Wrapup

Updates

These past few weeks have been busy for us and now I’m all burned out from all the activities and the new routines.

I also have a backlog of posts to share and hopefully I’ll get to them this week. I’m getting a short weekend escape by myself to Kyoto this coming weekend so hopefully I can find time to recharge and feel refreshed during my solo time.

Stay tuned!

12 years!!!

Updates

I know I’m 2 days late but May 6th was my 12th blog anniversary!

It’s amazing how I’ve been blogging for 12 years even though there were a few years where the blogging was sparse.

I don’t have much else to say other than wow, 12 years!

But here’s what our April 2015 looked like!

I must say, April was definitely a busy month for us!
